DIM thoughts.
2009-07-17 10:21 pmHellooo.
Here I am with another DIM-related post! HAHAHA.
Yes I follow the trend nowadays *Pinocchio-nose*
Naw, I just wanna share what I thought of DIM.
I watched the making of DVD first before listening to the songs, so actually when I started to listen to them, what I did was trying to pinpoint the parts where I found the guitars to be really super-interesting...so pardon the bias.
Plus I have no music knowledge at all so gomen ne m(_ _)m
First reaction : "...eh what? They all sounded the same T_T"
Really, that's my honest opinion.
But after some time of getting used to (aka playing everything on repeat cuz I have no other musical interest at the moment) I slowly accepted everything, at least learning to distinguish one song from another. Heh.
So an extensive opinion of each of the songs are as stated below~
Hakuri (inst)
- An instrumental that kinda prepares you for the whole DIM experience...well that's what an intro does, doesn't it?
THE INVISIBLE WALL
- PV reminds me of SID's Otegami, srsly. The red bg...oh and, Uruha's hair is very flippy XDflippy-hair Uruha ufufu
- For once I'm glad Ruki didn't speak fluent English cuz the intro lines would sound weird if he said it properly.Yes kill me.
- I like Kai's drums :D
A MOTH UNDER THE SKIN
- Probably the song where everyone's instruments show up the best, IMO :3
- I like the chorus XD and I kinda hoped the lady's voice would be a bit louder/sharper than Ruki's, but *shrugs*
- One of the songs that creeped up to me and forced me to like it lol XD
LEECH
- Mm...the intro 'cheerleader-ish' voice is different a bit?
Nakigahara
- I'm sorry to say this but it's dragging me endlessly~ which is to say I have a very short attention span to pay enough attention to this song. Gahaha.
Erika (inst)
- I dunno, I'm not hearing anything much here, to be honest. *shot*
HEADACHE MAN
- N/A
Guren
- I noticed the part where Ruki sings "-- hai ni naru" changed...but other than that I couldn't catch anything.
Shikyuu (inst)
- SCARY AS HELL. Kinda reminds me of Dir en Grey's mazohyst of decadence, somewhat. The baby's cries *shudders*
13STAIRS[-]1
- Let's call it 12STAIRS instead! *stabbed* Someone wanna hazard a guess as to how we should pronounce this?
- Heavy intro, a bit rhythmic and melodious, and then towards the end it sorts of spirals into heavy again. Wuhooo.
- YAY USING THE MEMBERS FOR BACKUP VOCALS : I APPROVE!
- I'm kinda irked cuz I want Uruha's guitars to not be accompanied by vocals during the pre-chorus =3= but the chorus is cool~ especially the distorted/whispered voices 8D
- And it's funny cuz the intro is kinda heavy and brooding and lyrically frustrated, but it changes into this kinda rebellious feel like : "WTF WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK" XD
DISTRESS AND COMA
- N/A
Kanshoku (inst)
- The calmest of all instrumentals.
Shiroki Yuutsu
- The only song I fell in love with at first listen XD
- Aoi x acoustic guitar = RAEP VICTIM kthx.
- Acoustic guitars, especially during the whispered part of the vocals, are PURE SMEXY LOVEmarry meee Aoi's acoustic guitaaar
- I can't read the lyrics or even understand em much but I know there's 'protect' in there, and well somehow that makes me love this song more.
- Plus, the strings section -- it's kinda comforting yet sad, y'know? A romantic song to me I guess *squee* and thank you Reita for the great bass continuation! *more squee*
- side note : I'm fangirling over Aoi moar now przkthx X3but is still keeping Reita with a leash
IN THE MIDDLE OF CHAOS
- Nice intro.
- Nice guitar, Uruha!
- The chorus turns me off though. Cuz of its 'sing-song' vocals haha~
- When I first heard it I hated it XD;
- And when I looked at the lyrics, I just realized it's all in English O_O and listening to it while reading the lyrics, it makes me think of Miseinen or Wakaremichi...なかんじ。
- A friend told me that many don't like this song. And he also told me (before I listened to DIM) that it's kinda 80/90's punk-ish? 8D
Mourou (inst)
- One of their previews had this...was it D&C's promo or their 7th Anniversary's? But definitely it's been used before =_=
OGRE
- YAY FOR ANOTHER MEMBERS-BACKUPS! I lol-ed when watching this part in the making of cuz...it's just funny >:D
- I like the (guitar?) solo and the chorus.
- And again, this reminds me of Diru -- not that I'm a strong Diru follower, having only listened to 2 of their albums, but it really does make me feel so.
DIM SCENE
- Heavy O_O in fact I think it's the heaviest of all the songs.
- Another Diru moment! Ruki's voice is eerily similar to Kyo's at one point D8
- And yay another Uruha solo woohoo~
- Honestly I don't like this song being the last on this album =3= (that may be cuz I'm used to instrumentals ending a set of songs eh) it somehow makes this album ends...abruptly? Mm.
All in all, the album needs a little getting used to, personally. I'm not really satisfied with the arrangements of songs cuz to me they sorta skip abruptly from one mood to the other and back again. I thought the instrumentals would do that job, but it still feels awkward.
And, the middle part of this album (LEECH til Guren) is kinda boring to me cuz they're already released as singles, except Nakigahara but that's dragging, so *shrugs*
12STAIRS onwards are...well, Diru-ish? I admit that I like the songs but it's not like they haven't been done before, the style. They're good, but not hyperexcitinglyawesome kinda good, get me?
As a last thought, I'll say that they're absolutely growing, and the direction is there, but maybe they're not getting used to it much yet. This might not be their best album so farcuz I'm a DISORDER fan, but their attempt and hard work can be seen from it. Well to me anyways.
But honestly, I listened to Stacked Rubbish a number of times before coming to the conclusion that it's a great album. Some things are meant to be like that, I guess?
There you go, honest and unbiased (as much as I could be anyways) thoughts on the songs, from my perspective. Now you're free to kill me, resurrect me and kill me again. *prepares to run*
I'm free to listen to what you have to say, though. If you want to.
Oh and, I edited the post where I told about what I got with the album : there are pictures this time! Woot XD

I wanna go ride crazy roller-coasters. I dunno if there are any places like that here in Malaysia though (maybe Genting but I've never been there) *sigh*
I NEED THE ADRENALINE RUSH. THE THRILL. THE FEELING OF DANGER.
I feel like sitting in Kinokuniya or MPH or Borders for a long long while one of these days. But there's no thrill in that~ ahhh my friends are all starting school again, it kinda sucks cuz our country's university's holidays and my holidays are way off =3= We don't have summer breaks, instead we have...term and semester breaks? Or whatever it's called.
Not being able to drive sucks hard.

^ Haha dorks XD
A Reason to Smile today :
Dyslexia...my bro's LOL!
