Otona Century I episode 4 : Chairs!

YAY HERE IT IS
Another random translation (?) session, this time of Otocen! Quite a lot of Okada-bullying here too teehee.


Basically in this episode, the theme is something about adults must have their own particular taste in things, so in order to apply that in real life, Kamisen is entrusted with the task of finding chairs that fit their interests, and the chairs will be used in the opening talk session of the following Otocen episodes :3

Opening talk session --

Ken : We have an interesting topic today.

Go : What is it?

Ken : A cool adult must have his own particular taste in interior [ or home design ].

Go : I see I see. I'm really interested in that.

Ken : Really? How so?

Go : The heck is 'interior'?

[ Interior = home design and stuff. ]

Okada : Now that I think about it, you once said that a horse can run around in your house...

 

Talking about what kind of chairs they'd like --

Go : I'd like hard ones.

[ Ken was rubbing and scratching his eyes with no interest at all ]

Go : Oi don't go scratching your eyes when people are talking! ...but anyways, yeah I'd prefer hard chairs.

Ken : How 'bout Okada?

Okada : Something comfortable.

Go : How 'bout you? [ to Ken ]

Ken : It should be practical...

Go : Like this? [ referring to the foldable table in front of them ]

Ken : Yeah like this 8D

 

Shop 1 : da driade

As per usual Ken being Ken, he goes up to the sales representative lady and asks her full name, and proceeded to call her by her given name only XD Henceforth the sales rep lady will be called Noriko :D

 

Ken, wearing an orange sweater, trying out a recommended orange chair (designed by Philippe Starck yo!) --

Go : Everything's orange here, I have no idea which one's the chair!

Ken : Which one is me?! 8D

Noriko : There's a cushion under the seat cover :)

Ken : Ah there really is!

Go : Obviously you can know that when you sit on it.

[ Ken jump-sits onto the chair excitedly ]

Go : Excuse me but people are gonna buy that chair, so [ drags Ken out of chair ] don't go jump on it as you please!

Ken : I'm sorry I'm sorry~

Okada : How many kgs can this chair support...?

Ken : Can it support this guy? [ pulls in one of the staff/ADs XD ] It's OK if he tries right?

Okada : Btw he's 133 kg 8D

[ the guy sits and proves that the chair is sturdy enough! ]

Okada : He's sweating like crazy even though it's so cold now ~

 

When the guys split up to browse around on their own, Okada found something --

Okada runs and flops on a bed (another Philippe Starck design!), on which Go was already lying on. A bit later Ken jumps on them and completes a human Stonehenge XD

Noriko : Excuse me but this is a display bed, so... XD

Go : Sorry sorry -- sorry I have eyes for high-taste things!

  

Okada shows interest in a nearby sofa --

Ken : Noriko-san should sit here :3

Noriko : [ laughs XD ]

Ken : [ randomly ] Noriko, how's tomorrow...tomorrow's food?

Okada : You're talking about tomorrow? About tomorrow's food -- ?!

Go : People don't usually talk about tomorrow's food, though.

Ken : How about tomorrow's lunch?

Noriko : What would you like? ♡

Ken : [ giggles ] 'What would you like?'

^ 「なにが好きなんですか？♡」 TOO CUTE

Ken : Do you normally cook?

Noriko : Yes I do :)

Ken : What kind of cooking...?

Noriko : I like Japanese-style, so...

Ken : I see I see.

Okada : Are you married?

Ken : Are you?

Noriko : Yes I am :)

Ken : [ shocked and disappointed ]

Noriko : Maybe next time...

Ken : Next time? Miss that's having an affair!

Noriko : No no no I didn't mean it like that -- !

Go : Um pardon me, but I think we're missing our objective here...

Ken : I thought our objective was to have fun doing everything? 8D

Go : And you doing that made us feel awkward being here, right, Okada-san!

Okada : It is, it's kinda awkwaaard. I have no idea what to do.

Go : See, it's tough on us.

Ken : I got distracted easily, sorryyy~

 

When they went out to find the next shop, Go and Okada were complaining how Ken got all the excitement and stuff with Noriko. So Ken decided that Go will get the privilege of being all friendly with the sales rep of the next shop they're going to. Go got all excited ♡
 

Shop 2 : Kagura [ I may be wrong here... ]

 

The sales rep (or actually the interior advisor, IA) was explaining stuff -- 

Go : So who do we talk to when we need stuff?

IA : Ah, me.

[ A GUY?! -- and the guys were kinda speechless for a good 5 seconds ]

IA : So if you need anything, just ask me.

Go : Ah I see...give me a minute --

[ Ken was turning to the camera and laughing -- after a while of talking between Go and Ken : ]

Go : ...I'm sorry but can we change advisors?

Ken : [ headsmacks Go ]

 

The interior advisor brought them around the shop and showing all the wood-based furnitures, then Okada was interested in a standing deco -- 

Okada : While we're at this, we might as well get something like this.

Ken : What's that?

Okada : It's wood, right.

Ken : We don't need something like that.

Go : I don't think so too ~ .

Ken : We don't need that.

Okada : A chair and this -- [ pleading ]

Ken : Stop asking for nonsensical stuff, alright?

 

Shop 3 : Mid-Century MODERN

Before even getting into the shop --

Ken : So, Okada, we'll leave the chair-seeking to you --




Ken : -- we'll go and get crepes now :D




Go : Alriiight.




Okada : Oi oi oi wait wait waaait -- !!




Ken : What?




Go : Cameras aren't allowed in there y'know.




Okada : We came here for CHAIRS, remember?


Inside, Go found a miniature chair (which costs 12,000 yen!) , and went --




Go : The size is just right for me ~ .
Ken : They're Go-sized 8D
Forever playing the chibi joke, don't ever stop XD


And then of course, the unavoidable role-play --




Go : Hey, you there -- [ to Okada ]




Go : Don't go and touch stuff as you please, y'see.




Go : People are buying that, y'know.




Okada : Sir, how much is this? [ the miniature chair from before ]




Go : 500 yen.




Ken : What're you looking for?




Okada : I'm looking for a chair...

Ken : You're too early for that, kid.

Okada : So then how old should I be to start looking for chairs?

Ken : When you're fifty.

Go : What kinda chair do you want?

Okada : [ described something I can't understand ]

Go : [ repeated Okada's description, and then -- ]




Go : What nonsense are you talking about?




Go : What color?




Okada : The color... --




Go : We don't have them.

Okada : But I haven't said anything yet -- !

 

After they're done surveying the shops, and got their chairs, they met back at their starting meeting place one by one. Ken came first, talked about his chair (a wood chair), and then Okada came with his plastic, Eames chair :3
 

Okada was talking about his chair when Ken noticed something in Okada's hand -- 

Ken : Eh? What are those...?

Okada : This...this is a bird. [ holds up a carved wooden bird :3 ]

Ken : What why...you shoplifted?

Okada : The heck you talking about...so I got this bird, and uh...paper clips.

-- and Ken went on nagging about buying unnecessary stuff to Okada XD

AWW I LOVE LOVE LOVE OTOCEN!! this was the variety which increased my love for kamisen, and Go. 8D

I love Go's hat, and it has been a longggg while since I seen him wore like that :) He's dressing very simple recently.

And the Go-size joke, never get old!
