Thanks to a friend, I followed this series, America's Best Dance Crew for 3 seasons in a row XD

BUT --

the ultimate kings would always be these guys, Jabbawockeez.
They're the winners of the first season's ABDC, and there's no questioning why they deserve to win. THEY JUST DO 8D

Here I bring you proof of their awesome dance skillz;
this one's from the Michael Jackson challenge, where they had to perform to MJ's PYT while both maintaining their originality AND have elements of MJ-ness in it :D

You'd think, coming here to the US, you'll get to know more American people, or bluntly speaking, whites or blacks or the people originally born in the US.

But in my case, nope, not true XD

I have more Asian friends than whites/blacks here, it's kinda funny. I guess people tend to flock with other 'similar' people. Like, you're more comfortable with 'your kind'. And it's not a racist thing at all, it's just a normal, everyday thing. Right?

I find it hard to talk to whites/blacks, for some reason. But I can high-five and laugh like an idiot with these Asian dudes. Not much whites/blacks in my classes, neways haha. Even so, in class, my seat would always be around the Asian people, with a few...Mexicans? Kind of. So at least in my case, the saying 'birds of a feather flock together' is proven to be true XD

I'm sounding like a racist bastard here, don't I? Damn.
But yep, just sharing my amusement.
Oh and, these Asian dudes, they're crazy, srslynokidding. I like them 8D

Why only starting this quarter do I get to talk to these people? ...prolly cuz before this my usual circle-of-friends haven't graduated yet. Yep, that's right.

Oh long rant 8D

My Heat Power class went for a field trip yesterday!
We went to an electric generation power plant.
The plant wasn't running at the moment though, cuz the demand for electricity isn't high right now; so they shut off a lot of the cooler stuff, like the boiler furnaces and turbines, which, even without them, managed to make my head ache due to the sole noise from one of the few machinery running during our tour of the plant.

Other than that, it's UBER COOL.

We got to see the control room,
we went up like 5-6 storeys to look at the boilers up close (the platforms are see-through, btw -- made me nauseous for a bit ahaha),
we were brought to see SUPER-BIG cooling towers (if it was running at the time, it'll be awesome to see water splashing down from the top to the bottom in the tower),
and we got to see only around 4-5 people around the plant during our tour lol.

We had lunch after that.
My first time eating out with other people who aren't my usual circle-of-friends.
It was fun 8D there's like 7 Asians and 1 white among us, but we're all cool with racist jokes and stuff (there I go with racism again). Mike even did an impersonation of one of our teachers.

All in all, I had a great time :3

One thing I wish I have the courage to say out loud, face-to-face, right now :

I'm sorry but I'm too tired to listen to your whines and problems right now. For once, please let me ignore your rants. And for once, please let me pretend to care.

What else...um, highlights of the day I guess?

- High-fived with Alan cuz we got our answers right on a quiz. And he's Asian. Yep.

- Fun car ride in the evening, even though it was only for grocery-shopping 8D

- Saw the Dell netbook I liked and made me want to save more money for it.

- Rediscovered Jabbawockeez!

I guess that's enough now.
Oh btw, it's December already!
WTF WHERE DID THE WHOLE OF 2009 GO?! Srsly I have only a few memory of this year!! D8

People are kind of simple. There are simple patterns and structures we like to follow, without neglecting the fact how homo sapiens is one distinguish species with high intelligence and ability to feel empathy etc. We like it simple and fixed, thinking it's a lot easier to follow something than make up something new.
But it's alright in the end. Otherwise everything would be vast, messy chaos.

As for the 'birds of a feather flock together' phenomen, this happens at our school: we have Russian students, fully capable of Finnish language but when they get together, would they change to Russian. I could be wrong but I feel as if they were hanging with 'their kind' only, not mixing with us Finns any bit. That kind of illuminates the 'off limits-barrier' for us Finns and thrusts a circle of suspicion into motion, like: why won't they talk to us, don't they want to? What are they talking about anyway (two very different languages), isolating like that and using their own language? etc. It is very simple soil to plant prejudgemental roots into, sort of. Saying this because Finland has been in war with Russia and under their threat, being very overpowered and whatsoever (=Finnish people think Russia is the quilty side), hence it brews hostile attitudes easily. There still remains the 'Russian people are untrustworthy people who make money in dirty ways and the women are whores', at least with older generations.
But I have to say it bothers me when I can't follow, what they talk with their heavy language. I have heard they just talk casual things, kind of just babble for babbling.. I wish I could break into a contact with them as I'm interested in different nationalies.
/off end.

omg a field trip. I stalked your blogspot but being too lazy to use the translator, I just glimpsed through the pictures. haha

edit: my mom just said that not mom's parents but the parents of mom's parents are somewhat reluctant towards Russians. But I guess there still lies something, down there..I dunno. Russia is huge, very incomprehensible country with big problems of human rights, the army system (people get abused and even killed there) etc.
K srsly I'm getting into it, babble-babble :D LOL

HUMANS ARE SIMPLE : WE ARE MILLIONS OF CELLS WALKING ON THE EARTH.
lol ok that was random and totally unrelated to what you were saying ahaha *shot*

the Russian-Finns conflict is *that* serious, eh. i get what you mean, like people with different nationalities were once at war with each other, the hate would always continue to the newer generations, even if the nations have already found peace with each other. it's kinda hard to let go.

oh about people not talking in a language we understand...well, yeah i feel you. but it doesn't bother me terribly cuz, like, in Malaysia there's like at least 4 languages (not including slangs and dialects) being spoken widely, and me only understanding two -- Malay & English -- can't really grasp what people are talking about in Tamil or Mandarin or anything. it does feel kinda irksome, but *shrugs* i just learnt to think good of others lol XD

i didn't post up any proper pics there though~ it's the final exams this week, so maybe the field trip's pics would be posted sometime next week :3 and YES THE FIELD TRIP WAS AWESOME ♥

As unrelated as that, it is still true. Rofl!

Well, yeah. Finland was first under the rule of Sweden but then Sweden lost our country to Russia and it was pretty much of struggle that way.. I wish all was that simple but Russia is one suspicious country and they hardly admitted having started the war themselves! So pisshh, that. Well, it's not the fault of the 'normal people', the innocent civils, there. I find the peace controversial and Russia has stirred up some negative reactions from their side about policital guestions and blah.. Finland is located in a troublesome way. /end.

You must be more accustomed to the diveristy, yeah. Vast majority of people living in Finland speak Finnish and in actual fact we've got a low rate of immigrants, pretty much lower than in Sweden for instance. About 6% of the population speak Swedish as their first language and we've got some language groups but mostly it is about Finnish, not as 'divided' as in Malaysia. Still Russia-wise: in Russian there are seven different type of s-letters pronunced differently. That way the language gains a rather significant sound, heh

I hope it was educational! How was the exam week anyways?
